Over the past decade, we’ve supplied 12,000 Hitachi horizontal scroll compressors to the Bond Group, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of refrigerated display cases.

The energy-saving and quiet compressors are integrated into the company’s popular low-fronted integral cabinets, helping to maximise the total display area whilst reducing energy consumption.

An early adopter of scroll technology, the Bond Group has been focused on improving energy efficiency for its British and European customers, which include ASDA, Iceland, Waitrose, and SPAR.

Other components supplied include Atex approved stainless steel braided hoses, pressure switches, self-regulating heart elements, and NTC probes.

Hussmann is an innovator in refrigeration energy efficiency, and it integrated two highly efficient components into its microDS range of low height display cases – a steel condenser manufactured by LU-VE and a Hitachi scroll compressor. Both components are supplied by Hawco.

The STFT steel condenser has a compact structure featuring a tubeless design, which gives a high ratio of capacity to volume. Its strong, steel construction is highly resistant to corrosion, making it an ideal choice to handle a wide range of climatic conditions – from the cold of Winnipeg to the heat of Miami.

The compressor chosen was the Hitachi ZS fixed-speed horizontal scroll. In addition to significantly improved energy-efficiency, its low profile maximises shelf space. At present, Hussmann has specified this compressor for use in its water cooled and air-cooled display cases – and testing is underway to introduce a R290 model with inverter technology for the best possible efficiency.
